Let me introduce myself: I'm Nuran
Hi, I'm Nuran, 34 years old, born in Waalwijk, and of Turkish descent. I'm the founder of LaCoum, and I'd like to share my story with you: who I am, how LaCoum came to be, and what my dreams are for the future.
My entrepreneurial journey started without me knowing it
I have a background in Business Administration, having studied at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven. After graduating, I gained extensive experience in the financial sector, including at various accounting firms and the municipality of Waalwijk. I've always been an inquisitive and enterprising person, the one who took care of everything, created structure, and thought ahead. As the eldest child, I was often called the "godmother" because I always kept an overview and kept everything on track.
I never imagined becoming an entrepreneur myself. Yet, I'd always been involved in business, without even realizing it. I grew up in an entrepreneurial family; my father has over 40 years of experience in the hospitality industry, and I worked as a manager in his restaurant for a long time. There, I was involved not only with the day-to-day operations but also with the finances and business operations. So, without even realizing it, I'd always been an entrepreneur.
From working for others to building my dream
I'm a natural organizer and leader, both personally and professionally. I've always felt the urge to do more than a typical 9-to-5 job offers. Working for the government or within an organization often felt too restrictive; I was constantly seeking more challenge. I didn't want to fit into a standard role; I wanted to build something, to create something. That's exactly what I'm doing now with my company, LaCoum.
Within my company, I'm a true jack-of-all-trades. I quickly switch between tasks, handle whatever's needed, and ensure everything runs smoothly. Initially, I found it difficult to delegate tasks because I thought I had to do everything myself to keep things running smoothly. Along the way, I've learned that you can't do everything alone, and that collaboration actually offers new opportunities and insights.
Entrepreneurship is more than just running a business
What drives me most is the creative aspect of my business. I'm incredibly passionate about developing new ideas, establishing a unique brand, and seeking out the right opportunities. I'm also always present at trade shows and events, where I want to discover the potential of every opportunity.
My vision of the future and why I never stop dreaming
My ultimate dream? To grow LaCoum into an international, modern, and sleek brand with a strong and recognizable identity. A brand that isn't tied to traditional roots, but instead has its own unique style that's recognizable worldwide.
I work day and night on this vision and pour all my passion and energy into LaCoum. This is my story, and I hope I've inspired you to pursue your own dreams.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's that you should always dare to think big.
Love,
Nuran
